World-leading screening system for aggregates now available in Australia

Mineral processing technology expert, HAVER & BOECKER Australia, has introduced its world-leading screening system, the NIAGARA® Scalper, to the Australian mining, building materials and recycling industries.

HAVER & BOECKER Australia’s Head of Processing Technology, Steffen Silge, said: “Many operations feed the ROM or feed material directly into the crusher. Fines then cause high wear rates on crusher parts, affect feed rate limits and, ultimately, impact production and product quality. These are issues that can be resolved by implementing a screening system to screen fines out prior to crushing.

“The NIAGARA® Scalper has been under continuous development and improvement for decades and has secured a leading position in the international market due to its durability and performance.

“We’re pleased to now offer the technology in Australia and have already secured our first customer - a Victorian quarry operation.”

The NIAGARA® Scalper is ideal for screening and scalping coarse material, and moist and sticky material with a tendency for screen blinding and pegging. It is well suited to operations with high feed rates and those with discontinuous feed rates.

The machine has a number of distinctive features that give it its market-leading edge:

  • Drive system: generates a constant circular vibration with a fixed amplitude, regardless of feed material loads and conditions
  • Distinctive four-bearing design with eccentric shaft acceleration: essential for load-independent operation, ensuring screen blinding or clogging won’t occur
  • Counter weights on the shaft: in combination with the support buffers, the weights balance the system to dynamically minimise loads.

The system is available in single and multiple-decks designs with deck sizes ranging from 1,200mm to 2,700mm in width, 2,500mm to 8,000 mm in length and capacity of up to 3,000 tonnes per hour. The maximum feed block size is 2,000mm x 1,000mm x 1,000mm (depending on model) and it can screen cut sizes from 16mm to 350 mm.
