HAVER AUSTRALIA opens its doors to high pressure washing lab for the HYDRO-CLEAN™

The team at Haver Australia is excited to announce the launch of the company’s Hydro-Clean™ Lab Facility, where clients have the opportunity to test the machine before outlaying capital.

The Hydro-Clean™ washing unit is an innovative, highly effective, environmentally friendly washing system. It has the ability to effectively clean deleterious material from metal ores, coal, industrial minerals and aggregates, while reducing water consumption by up to 70 per cent, in comparison to traditional washing technology.

“We want to give clients a timely way to test their materials in the Hydro-Clean™ in order to determine how it can make their operations more efficient and profitable,” Haver Australia Business Development Manager, Steffen Silge explains.

“We have plenty of space at the lab, and it is the most ideal set-up to test materials and host clients who would like to see the test process and learn more about how the unit works,” he adds.

“The testing process gives the customer a clear idea of the sellable material they can produce as well as a sense for the amount of water they will be able to save.”

There are six steps involved in the Hydro-Clean™ Lab test procedure, including a comprehensive Test Report supplied to the client at the final stage.

Lab Test Procedure

1. Arrival inspection

“During this stage the material condition upon arrival at the lab is documented,” he says.

The arrival inspection includes documentation of packing conditions and material conditions.

2. Material preparation

Material preparation is dependent on several factors such as quantity, quality, manageability, restrictions, test procedure and external circumstances. Material preparation is an important step, which needs to be completed before the test works can be performed. It includes pre-crushing, if required, and sample deviation.

3. Feed material characterisation

Feed material characterisation is used to determine the relevant material properties and behaviour.

“This information is necessary to draw conclusions from the test works that will be carried out. Characteristics, including bulk density, moisture content, texture or consistency, angle of repose or slope, absorption of water, dissolve test, chemical analysis, and grain size distribution can be analysed,” Silge says.

4. High pressure washing test

This step involves the wet classification of the feed material before Hydro-Clean™ Lab treatment.

“Wet classification is important to determine the maximum content of impurities smaller than 0.063 mm that can be washed off the material,” he explains.

“The actual washing test uses our Hydro-Clean™ 200 Lab to wash the feed material using only high-pressure water. The maximum feed size is 50 millimetres. Retention time, pressure and volume of water can all be adjusted during the process,” he says.

“It is important to use a representative sample to achieve characteristic washing results.”

In step four there is an additional wet classification stage following the washing test. This is to compare the results from before and after the wash test.

5. Product characterisation

The product characterisation uses methods to determine the physical properties of the washed material.

Chemical and metallurgical analyses can also be performed if required.

“This information is relevant to find out how the material characteristics have changed, and to interpret the test works performed.”

6. Test report

In the final stage, the client is then provided with a test report, which contains details about the test procedure, material characterisation results, test work results, and material samples.

“Tests completed at the lab facility using a client’s contaminated material, will accurately determine the effectiveness of Hydro-Clean™ technology for use on that particular site or operation,” Silge explains.

“Clients will receive information about how materials can be upgraded, as well as statistics about how much energy and water can be saved on-site in comparison to other traditional washing technology.

“It is the most cost efficient way clients can try the machine before making an investment.”

The Hydro-Clean™ is suited to all ferrous, non-ferrous commodities, sand and gravel, aggregates and coal.
